I was out photographing New Westminster’s annual Hyack International Parade last weekend. Save for one photo, I took up a personal challenge to photograph with just one lens, my Nikon 500mm f/5.6 super telephoto.
A Hyack Festival volunteer amateur (ham) radio operator, Ralph, VE7OM, runs the Net Control Station for the other 22 volunteer ham radio operators positioned at various parade checkpoints. The VHF repeater communications for this event was hosted by the New Westminster Amateur Radio Club (NWARC).
Thanks Robbie. Very interesting photos. Very bright and clear. I especially love the dragon. The closeup of faces are intriguing. I did not realize that the ham radio operators help out with the parade. Who were the group in blue. The group in yellow came in our Tsawwassen parade last August 1st.
Thanks, Pat! Last year I volunteered as a radio operator, that was fun too. I don’t know the group in blue, but definitely the drummer in yellow was photogenic.
Great photos Rob!
Thanks, Roger!
